Disneyland in March

Drew had a conference down in Southern California just a few miles from Disneyland.  We decided to take Makenna for a day, kind of as our last family of three vacation.  We told her sometime in January that we were going to go to Disneyland and she was so excited for three months!  The day we were supposed to drive down to Irvine Makenna fell off the back of a chair, split open her nose, and gave us our first ER visit.  Luckily, the visit required no stitches; just medicine, TLC, and frozen yogurt.  Needless to say it has healed up nicely.  She will have just a small scar. 

We were quite the bunch in Disneyland.  I was 36 weeks pregnant, Drew was in a non-walking cast from ankle surgery, and Makenna not only had her nose injury but she had also had an allergic reaction to a cinnamon roll and her face had broken out in a red rash (you’ll see that in the pictures).  There were times when I was pushing Drew in the wheel chair, and he was pushing Makenna in the stroller.  It was a sight to see!  Unfortunately no pics of that.  We had tons of fun, despite all the disabilities.  Makenna got to meet her first Disney characters.  We spent most of our time in Fantasy Land and Toon Town.  Makenna rode the Ferris wheel  about five times, she loved that ride.  She went the whole day without a nap and crashed in the car about five minutes from the parking lot.  We could not wake her at all, so the girl went to sleep in her Aurora outfit.

In order to meet the princesses you had to wait in a line that was approximately 75 minutes in wait time.  Note to self, NEVER again!  Makenna did such a great job waiting that long.  All the other rides we took full advantage of Drew’s wheel chair and walk right on each ride. 

 

She was a terrible driver!  I’m glad two-year-olds are not allowed on the real roads.

Besides the ferris wheel, Makenna loved the rockets in Tomorrowland.

Total and pure exhaustion, but so worth it and so fun!  She might not remember this trip, but her Daddy and I will never forget it!

Quick Christmas Update

Our tradition is to get our Christmas tree a day or two after Thanksgiving.  This year was no different.  Makenna was super excited to help pick the tree this year.  She helped “carry” it in, hang the lights, and she helped decorate it too.

Makenna has been extra cuddly lately.  We think it is because of the colder weather.  She has always preferred to be really warm.

Here we are taking Christmas card pictures at Mom and Dad’s.  We decided to not do Christmas cards this year, since we will have baby announcements coming out sometime between March and June.

Makenna’s trip to Christmas in the Park was quite fun.  We went with Will, Jenny, Grant, Ashley, Kyle, and Heather.  She was very interested in everything.

Uncle Kyle wanted to take her on the carousel ride.  She was a little scared at first but ended with all smiles.

This time of year is fairly busy so this probably be our last update for a few weeks, at least.   Merry Christmas!

From Airplanes to Hammin’ it Up!

Last month we were able to spend some time in Tahoe with my parents.  The Tahoe airport was having an air show with all kinds of planes and helicopters.  Makenna is currently obsessed with airplanes so we thought that she would love to go and see them up close.  She LOVED it!  She wanted to touch all the planes and was all smiles, even though it was windy and cold.

We were able to go inside this HUGE plane.

She literally wanted to run up and touch each plane and helicopter.

Drew and Dad got to climb into a Harrier, also known as “the widow-maker”.  They don’t make this kind of plane anymore because if the pilot makes a sudden move at a certain speed the plane will flip and the pilot’s neck is snapped in the process.  Yikes!

 

Makenna was so cold by the end that she was happy to zip into Daddy’s jacket.

Makenna loves to play dress up.  She has a special drawer full of recycled accessories and such.

We went to the beach in Tahoe too.  The water was freezing.  Makenna went in up to her ankles but had a lot of fun throwing rocks into the lake.

On the walk home we noticed a jack rabbit run under this platform.  Drew and Makenna are trying to see it.

Makenna got on Bampa’s ATV.  They were both “acting” scared, even though Makenna really was.

 

Introducing Bria.  This is an adorable little three month old that Makenna and I help watch four days a week.  Makenna adores her, she wants to give her kisses all the time. 

 

Makenna was invited to The Little Gym by her friend Tyler.  She loved it.  They get to do gymnastic-y type things, sing songs, play with balls, and have a ton of fun.  At the end of the class the teacher puts a stamp on their hands, feet, and their tummy.  Makenna was so excited about her stamps!!!

She had a scabbed over boo-boo on her foot that she just noticed, and she decided to give herself a kiss to make it “feel better”.
