Snow Play in December 2009

Two days after Christmas we went up to Tahoe for a few days. Makenna has seen snow, but this was the first time that she really got to play in it and be aware of what was happening. We put her in this adorable hot pink snow suit and bundled her up for some fun in the snow. The first day we went in the front yard and Bampa pulled her in a sled around the block. She loved going around the block on the wooden toboggan. Daddy and Uncle Will would randomly throw snow on her as she went along.
The second day we went to Kingsbury Grade and actually did some sledding. Daddy took her down on her first ride down a small hill. She was a little uncertain at first but we caught a glimpse of her smiling in the picture below. Proof that she loved the experience.
Later in the day Auntie Jenny went down with her. I love this picture because you can see the "fear" on both their faces.
By the end of the afternoon her snowsuit was starting to get wet and cold. So we called it a day. It was really fun.

December 2009

This Christmas we opened our Christmas presents on Christmas Eve morning. We fully intended to open our gifts the day after Christmas, but we couldn't wait! Drew and Makenna opened a joint gift of little cars that they can play together. Drew gave me a single brew coffee maker...awesome! Makenna was very excited to help me open it.

Drew had to help out at the Christmas Eve services at work. We attended one together and then served in the nursery as a family. After church we came home and got into our pj's and drove around looking at Christmas lights. Drew and I ate a dinner consisting of gourmet sandwiches and snacks in the car. You can see in the picture below Makenna looks very excited to drive around and look at lights at 9 o'clock at night.

Christmas morning began a tradtion we hope to do every year. We went downtown to Saint James Park and made pancakes for the homeless. Our good friend Rob joined us and my Dad, too. It was really awesome to see God working that morning. Makenna crashed in the car on the way to Grammy and Bampa's house.

Below is a Christmas gift from Grammy and Bampa. This little ballerina outfit is actually a bathing suit! So cute!

Makenna started using her hockey binky the day after Christmas. Drew was so pleased!

October Update

Makenna is now 11 months old. We will celebrate her first year next month, yikes! She is still army-crawling. Refusing to move up on her hands and knees, but very capable of doing so. She pulls herself up on everything and loves to stand and walk along the couches. She is signing a lot more frequently and has added a few words to her signing vocabulary. It is crazy to me that she can communicate at such a young age, it is amazing! She kisses and hugs freely, and actually blows kisses to people. She loves to wave at everyone in the grocery store, and she can bark like a dog when asked "what does a doggie say?" Below are a few pictures from our pumpkin patch visit and a few random shots from the past month. Oh yes, and Makenna made the switch to a front facing carseat this month. She made a lot of screeching sounds as she road forward for the first time. It was so funny.
